NRO Number Council election

Toshiyuki (Toshi) Hosaka is Manager of both the IP Department and the Internet Policy Department at JPNIC, the Japan Network Information Center.

Just after graduating from the University of Tokyo in 1995, Toshi started his career in the Internet business with International Digital Communications, Inc, Japan (currently Softbank IDC Corporation). He was in charge of sales management and product management for the Internet Access and Data Center products, including international coordination.

He joined JPNIC in 2002 as part of the IP Department, and has been in charge of resource analysis, international liaison, and communications.

He has been a Co-chair of the Policy SIG at APNIC Open Policy Meetings since APNIC 18 in 2004.

He is a member of the IPv6 Deployment Committee of the Internet Association of Japan, and has contributed especially to the IPv6 Statistics Measurement project.

Toshi also keeps track of the activities on Internet Governance, including WSIS, WGIG, and ICANN. He regularly participates in ICANN meetings.

Thanks to his rich experience in a Telecom Carrier, Toshi has a broad and balanced knowledge of the Internet business and technologies, not limited to the field of IP resource management.

He has been actively involved in APNIC activities, mainly in the address policy field and the NIR community, and has already been widely recognized by the APNIC community, in spite of his relatively short career there.

He is a person who has a comprehensive view and understanding of IP address policy, ICANN issues, and Internet Governance. Thus I am quite confident that he will make an invaluable contribution to the NRO Number Council / ICANN ASO Address Council.
