APNIC NRO NC Election

One position on the NRO NC was up for election. The nominations (in the order they were received) were:

• Brajesh Jain
• Komal Batool
• Henri Kasyfi Soemartono

Congratulations to Brajesh Jain on his election to the NRO NC. He will serve on the NRO NC/ASO AC for two years from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2018.

Cooperation SIG

The Cooperation SIG is a forum for discussion about broader Internet issues like Public Policy and Internet Governance with a focus on information sharing, outreach, capacity building, and other activities that will advance APNIC’s vision for a global,open, stable, and secure Internet.

Presentations at the SIG included:

• Dr. Govind introduced the different fora and actors shaping Internet Governance, highlighting the importance of openness and inclusivity.
• Billy Cheon provided an update about the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA) held in Seoul this August.
• Izumi Okutani discussed the upcoming 2016 Internet Governance Forum from the perspective of the numbers community.
• Paul Wilson offered a reflection on the IANA transfer process looking at the road travelled and road ahead for the multistakeholder Internet community.
• Maureen Hilyard presented a comprehensive look at the Internet in the Pacific.
• Sagarika Wickramasekera shared recent efforts by ISOC LK and IGF_LK.

NIR SIG

An NIR SIG Chair election was held at APNIC 42 following the resignation of former Chair, Toshio Tachibana, earlier this year.

Congratulations to Shyam Nair on his election as Chair of the NIR SIG. Acting Chair, Ajai Kumar, reverted to his position of Co-Chair. As a consequence, there was no Co-Chair election required.

The community thanks Toshio and Ajai for their service as Chair and Acting Chair, respectively.

Policy SIG

The Open Policy Meeting of the APNIC Policy SIG took place during three sessions over two days.

The first SIG session continued the community discussion about APNIC Whois Database Accuracy. APNIC Services Director George Kuo, and Dhammika Priyantha of the Sri Lanka National Police, were joined by remote presenters from the United State Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New Zealand Police.

A number of statistical informational presentations by the Secretariat reviewed global address consumption as well as delegation and transfer reports regarding the Final /8 pool.

The following proposals were discussed but did not reach consensus. They will both be returned to the authors for further consideration.

• prop-116 - Prohibit to transfer IPv4 addresses in the final /8 block 
• Revising eligible voters of Chair election and Chair's term
