Panel Discussion: IPv6 Addressing Planning for an Operational Network

Abstract
Establishing a practical and scalable plan for deploying IPv6 addressing on an operational network is an important part of any IPv6 deployment. Advice on address planning is one of the most commonly asked questions of the APNIC Secretariat. An IPv6 address is 128 bits long, four times longer than a 32 bit IPv4 address. The resulting size of the IPv6 address space seems to make IPv6 address planning counter-intuitive for many network operators. What are the best current practices for IPv6 addressing to realize scalable and manageable network operations? What have operators learned, and what advice do they have to share? The panel session will feature several different speakers from ISPs and telecom operators in different economies, sharing their experiences and advice with the audience in an interactive session.
