Cooperation SIG

The Cooperation SIG is a forum for discussion about broader Internet issues such as public policy and Internet governance with a focus on information sharing, outreach, capacity building, and other activities that will advance APNIC’s vision for a global, open, stable, and secure Internet. The theme of this SIG was: Whois - Challenges of data protection and privacy.

The NIR SIG shares information relating to the operations, policies, and procedures of National Internet Registries (NIRs) with the aim of promoting close cooperation among the NIRs and with the APNIC Secretariat.

The NIR SIG had presentations from the following NIRs:

NIR SIG Chair, Shyam Nair's term ended at APNIC 46. As no candidates were nominated, Co-Chair Zhen Yu will assume the role of Acting Chair until APNIC 47. There will be another Chair and Co-Chair election at APNIC 47. APNIC thanks Shyam Nair for his contribution to the APNIC community.

Policy SIG

The APNIC Policy SIG is an open forum to develop policies and procedures that relate to the management and use of Internet address resources by APNIC, NIRs and ISPs within the Asia Pacific region.

The following policy proposals were discussed at the APNIC 46 Policy SIG.

ASO Review Consultation

This was the third session held with the APNIC community as part of a global consultation on the issues identified by the independent review of the ASO by ITEMS International. 

The session discussed the NRO EC’s recent input after the previous RIR consultations held in the past year. The session also covered a two-stage model proposal from a community member and the Supporting Organization (SO) status at ICANN.

A survey was launched to gather more feedback from the community on the ASO Review.
