Ryan Connolly, Team CymruThe presenter gave an overview of Team Cymru's activities, in relation to incident response services. One of the ways TC obtains information is to use data feeds from "darknets". There are many partners throughout the world providing data to this service. The presenter invited anyone with related problems to contact Team Cymru. Questions and discussion Akinori Maemura, JPNICThis presentation summarised the recent activities of JANOG. It is a fully voluntary organisation with no budget. It consists of a mailing list with over 5,000 subscribers. JANOG holds two meetings each year. JANOG 18 was held in July with more than 250 attendees. JANOG has so far had an "only in Japanese" policy, with some exceptions. Currently foreign language presentations must be translated by the presenter, but JANOG has now formed an internationalisation team to prepare web pages and queries. Questions and discussion Shinji Morikawa, JPNAPThe presenter summarised traffic trends in Japan, with data taken from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. For details of the statistics, refer to the presentation. The presenter noted that traffic between IXPs and ISPs is a major traffic flow at high rates. JPNAP has been in service since 2001, now with locations in Tokyo and Osaka. There are now about 40 customers connected to JPNAP by 10GE connections. Traffic keep growing by 1.5 times per year, reaching 188GBps in 2006. The presenter then reviewed some recent JPNAP services, including the Private Interconnect / Closed Users Group (PI/CUG). Questions and discussion Xing Li, CERNETThis presentation was about the need for security methods to protect networks from DDoS attacks. The presenter discussed the pros and cons of SAVA and IPsec. For full details refer to the presentation. The presenter also discussed CERNET2, which is a purely IPv6 network, currently putting work into developing multihoming and providing IPv4 over IPv6 services. The presenter also noted CERNET2's recent experiments, its goals, and its milestones. Questions and discussion Gaurab Raj Upadhaya , PCHThe presenter gave an overview of SANOG's recent activities, including the content of the recent SANOG VIII meeting, which included an APNIC Open Policy Meeting Showcase. This was the first SANOG held in Pakistan. There now appears to be an increasing effort to establish an IXP in Pakistan. The next SANOG will be held in January 2007. The presenter called for speakers, especially on the subject of switching, VoIP, soft switching, IPv6, multicast, security, and routing. SANOG is working with APNIC to build involvement in the ICONS web site. Questions and discussion Philip SmithQuestions and discussion Meeting closed: 6:20 pm Minuted by: Gerard Ross |
