Reason for nomination

Dr. Di Ma is a well-regarded expert in the Internet community. His experiences with IETF, APNIC, and ICANN make him an especially good candidate to be a member of Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC).

Dr. Ma has worked on the RPKI and routing security for several years. He is the co-author of RFC 8211 (RPKI Threat Model), RFC 8416 (Local Management of Number Resource with RPKI), and RFC 8897 (RPKI Relying Party Requirements). In his last term as NRO NC member, he was the APNIC representative to the NRO NC PPFT(Policy Proposal Facilitator Team). As the RPKI is being deployed globally, his expertise would benefit the NRO NC in discussions of number policies, especially with respect to the RPKI.

Dr. Di Ma has engaged closely with APNIC community for a decade. He was the co-founder of APNIC Routing Security SIG and is now the acting chair of this SIG. He has been selected as APNIC Fellowship Program Mentor for three consecutive years since 2021. His experience and standing in this community also would enhance his role as NRO NC member.

Dr. Ma is active in ICANN community. He has been the member of ICANN RSSAC Caucus since February 2015. He was the member of ICANN CGP of Root Zone LGR Project and awarded an ICANN Certificate of Achievement for this job. He was an invited reviewer of ICANN OCTO-014 report on RPKI Technical Analysis. His experience and contact with ICANN community also make him a good candidate for the NRO NC member, given the Council’s role as ICANN ASO AC.
