- Principal Research Fellow
- I am now the Principal Research Fellow of ZDNS a company that provides Internet infrastructure services. At ZDNS, I have been leading research activities regarding IPAM, DNSSEC and the RPKI. Before joining in ZDNS, I served Computer Network Information Centre, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as a network scientist.
- I received my bachelor degree in Communication Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University in July 2007 and Doctor’s degree in Computer Science from Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Sciences in July 2012.
- Experience and involvement in APNIC activities
I was the co-founder of APNIC Routing Security SIG and has been selected as APNIC Fellowship Program Mentor for three consecutive years since 2021. In my last term as NRO NC member, I was the APNIC representative to the NRO NC PPFT (Policy Proposal Facilitator Team).
As a computer network scientist, I have been taking part in APNIC community for more than a decade since APNIC28 conference. Over the years, I have carried out extensive links within this community and made well regarded contributions to it, with my experience of founding APNIC Routing Security SIG, serving as APNIC Fellowship Program Mentor and APNIC representative to the NRO NC PPFT(Policy Proposal Facilitator Team) in my last term as NRO NC member. I know APNIC community very well and I am ready to rededicate myself to the service of our community and its people now and in the years to come.
In addition, my expertise in the RPKI and experience with IETF and ICANN in terms of RPKI, will further make me competent to be in this position as RPKI has been a significant task for APNIC and other RIR communities.

- Reason for nomination
Dr. Di Ma is a well-regarded expert in the Internet community. His experiences with IETF, APNIC, and ICANN make him an especially good candidate to be a member of Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC).
Dr. Ma has worked on the RPKI and routing security for several years. He is the co-author of RFC 8211 (RPKI Threat Model), RFC 8416 (Local Management of Number Resource with RPKI), and RFC 8897 (RPKI Relying Party Requirements). In his last term as NRO NC member, he was the APNIC representative to the NRO NC PPFT(Policy Proposal Facilitator Team). As the RPKI is being deployed globally, his expertise would benefit the NRO NC in discussions of number policies, especially with respect to the RPKI.
Dr. Di Ma has engaged closely with APNIC community for a decade. He was the co-founder of APNIC Routing Security SIG and is now the acting chair of this SIG. He has been selected as APNIC Fellowship Program Mentor for three consecutive years since 2021. His experience and standing in this community also would enhance his role as NRO NC member.
Dr. Ma is active in ICANN community. He has been the member of ICANN RSSAC Caucus since February 2015. He was the member of ICANN CGP of Root Zone LGR Project and awarded an ICANN Certificate of Achievement for this job. He was an invited reviewer of ICANN OCTO-014 report on RPKI Technical Analysis. His experience and contact with ICANN community also make him a good candidate for the NRO NC member, given the Council’s role as ICANN ASO AC.
