NRO NC Election 2025
One position was open for election at APNIC 60. The nominations (in the order they were received) were:
Congratulations to Devesh Tyagi on his election to the NRO NC. Devesh will serve a two-year term of office 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027.
Many thanks to outgoing NRO NC member Di Ma for his service to the NRO NC and the APNIC community.

SIG Chair and Co-Chair Elections 2025
Elections were also held for the following SIGs. Congratulations to:
- Cooperation SIG – Joy Chan (re-elected by acclamation)
- NIR SIG - Oanh Nguyen (re-elected by acclamation)
- Policy SIG - Bikram Shrestha (Chair), Shaila Sharmin (re-elected Co-Chair)
- Routing Security SIG - Terry Sweetser (elected by acclamation)
- IANA RC – Tomohiro Fujisaki (elected by acclamation)
Many thanks to outgoing Chair Bertrand Cherrier for his service to the APNIC Policy SIG and community.
We also thank Ching-Heng Ku for his service on the IANA RC, and Taiji Kimura for his service as the Acting Chair of the Routing Security SIG. Taiji will still be continuing as the Co-Chair of the Routing Security SIG.
Cooperation SIG
The Cooperation SIG is a forum for discussion about broader Internet issues such as public policy and Internet governance with a focus on information sharing, outreach, capacity building, and other activities that will advance APNIC’s vision for a global, open, stable, and secure Internet.
Discussion centred on 'Bridging the Gap: Technical Voices in Global Internet Policy’.
NIR SIG
The NIR SIG shares information relating to the operations, policies, and procedures of National Internet Registries (NIRs) with the aim of promoting close cooperation among the NIRs and with the APNIC Secretariat.
The NIR SIG had the following presentations:
- CNNIC Update (Zhen Yu)
- KRNIC/KISA update (Han Sang Lee)
- TWNIC update (Tim Wang)
- NIXI/IRINN Update (Abishek Mishra)
There was also panel discussion on ‘NIRs and APNIC in the Next Decade: Strengthening Roles, Collaboration, and Innovation’.
Open Policy Meeting (Policy SIG)
The APNIC Open Policy Meeting (OPM) is an open forum to develop policies that relate to the management and use of Internet number resources within the Asia Pacific region. These include policies for resource allocation, recovery and transfer, and for resource registration within whois, reverse DNS, RPKI and related services.
The following proposals reached consensus:
- prop-162: WHOIS Privacy
- prop-166: Revocation of Persistently Non-functional RPKI Certification Authorities
- prop-167: Published Statistics on Directory Service Usage
The following proposals did not reach consensus and will be sent back to the mailing list for further discussion:
- prop-164: Allocations of IPv6 Resources longer than a /32 with a nibble boundary alignment
- prop-165: Provision of IPv4 Address Space to IPv6-only Networks for Transitional Purpose
Routing Security SIG
The Routing Security SIG provides a platform to discuss operational issues and best practices to secure global Internet routing. It also provides advice, support and technical review of policy proposals concerning routing security to advise the APNIC Community.
The SIG had presentations about the following topics:
- RPKI deployment to ensure the security of routing in Viet Nam (Ngyuen Minh Hai)
- To Deploy or Not to Deploy, That’s the Question? How to convince your boss to deploy DNSSEC and RPKI (Wout de Natris – van der Borght)
- The Key Challenges and Technical Innovations in BGP (Zhuotao Liu)
- Future Challenges for ROA Validator and Proposed Solution (Taiji Goto)
