Experience and involvement in APNIC activities

I had started attending APNIC 41 in Auckland and ever since have been attending many APNIC conference held in past few years. I have been facilitating discussions in the industry at various events, organizing local NOGs, volunteering as a trainer in NOG events & APNIC 42 and individually exchange information on regular basis with other technical colleagues in the APAC region. I have actively participated in Special Interest group (SIG) and APNIC Policy discussions. My regular participation in APRICOT, APNIC, SANOG, bdNOG and other meetings in the Asia Pacific Region gives me the knowledge to understand and analyze the issues affecting our region.

Nominee statement

I am involved with NOG activities for many years. I have gained adequate experience in the fields of Internet Network configuration and Management, enough knowledge of Regional Internet Registry for number resources and Domain Name Registry Services. I believe good balance and co-ordination is important for this role and I would like to try make contribution to this region and to APNIC conferences. I have read the Co-Chair responsibilities and I am confident to serve the community.

Reason for nomination

Shaila Sharmin is an active member of the Asia Pacific Internet community.

She has attended many events like APNIC, APRICOT, bdNOG, SANOG, APrIGF, bdSIG, APSIG, ICANN, IETF and an active contributor to policy and technical discussions in the AP Region. She has good understanding of the policy development process.

She was the member of Program Committee of Multiple bdNOG, APNIC and APRICOT events, PC Co-Chair of APNIC 48 and APNIC 50, and has been selected as APNIC 52 Fellow Mentor. She has volunteered at Bangladesh Network Operators Group events as an Executive Committee member and trainer for years. I believe she would be an appropriate candidate for the Policy SIG Co-Chair, to represent and voice the diversity of APNIC region.

She has more than 9 years of working experience in ISP, enterprise and WiMAX Network Architecture. A seasoned Operations Engineer and Management professional in the field of IP CORE / Enterprise network. She possesses extensive hands on experience in Core and Enterprise Routing and Switching Technologies with major vendors. At present, she is working as System security analyst at Information Security Department of Brac Bank LTD. Prior to her current role, she has served as Assistant Manager at Link3 Technology, a nationwide ISP in Bangladesh, as Senior Core Network Engineer, in a pioneer WiMAX company named Banglalion Communications Ltd.
