Education/qualifications

I am now the Principal Research Fellow of ZDNS a company that provides Internet infrastructure services. At ZDNS, I have been leading research activities regarding IPAM, DNSSEC and the RPKI. Before joining in ZDNS, I served Computer Network Information Centre, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as a network scientist.

I received my bachelor degree in Communication Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University in July 2007 and Doctor’s degree in Computer Science from Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Sciences in July 2012.

Experience and involvement in APNIC activities

I was the co-founder of Routing Security SIG of APNIC (now acting co-chair of this SIG) and the member of Program Committee of APRICOT 2021 and will serve as APNIC52 Fellowship Program Mentor.

Nominee statement

Technical topics are accounting for a remarkable part of discussions in Routing Security SIG of APNIC since it is chartered to provide a platform to discuss the operational issues and best practices to secure global Internet routing. I recognize my expertise in routing security as well as the RPKI and my contact with technical community have played a positive role in my serving as a co-chair since the inception of this SIG. I would like to commit myself once again to serving as a co-chair to make this SIG a better place for information sharing and a better supporting organization to advise APNIC Community.

Reason for nomination

Dr. Di Ma is now the Principal Research Fellow of ZDNS a company that provides Internet infrastructure services. At ZDNS, he has been leading research activities regarding IPAM, DNSSEC and the RPKI. He has been active in the RPKI and routing security for a decade. He is one of the co-authors of RFC 8211 (Adverse Actions by a CA or Repository Manager in the RPKI), RFC 8416 (Simplified Local Internet Number Resource Management with the RPKI) and RFC 8897 (RPKI Relying Party Requirements). He was the co-founder of Routing Security SIG of APNIC (now acting co-chair of this SIG) and was an invited reviewer of ICANN OCTO-014 report on RPKI Technical Analysis. His expertise in routing security and experience of serving as acting co-chair of Routing Security SIG of APNIC make him competent to take this job.
