Cooperation SIG

The Cooperation SIG is a forum for discussion about broader Internet issues such as public policy and Internet governance with a focus on information sharing, outreach, capacity building, and other activities that will advance APNIC’s vision for a global, open, stable, and secure Internet. The theme of this SIG was on the transnational nature of network operations.

Presentations at the SIG included:

The NIR SIG shares information relating to the operations, policies, and procedures of National Internet Registries (NIRs) with the aim of promoting close cooperation among the NIRs and with the APNIC Secretariat.

The NIR SIG had presentations from the following NIRs:

The term of NIR SIG Co-Chair, Zhen Yu's term ended at APNIC 48. There were three nominations for the role of Co-Chair: Dinesh Tharanga Rubasingh Gunawardena, Swetha Mehta, and Zhen Yu. As both Dinesh and Swetha were not in the SIG to participate in the election, Zhen Yu assumed the role of Co-Chair for a term of two years.

Policy SIG

Translated summaries of the policy proposals

The policy proposals discussed at the APNIC 48 Policy SIG have been translated into the following languages.

Routing Security/RPKI SIG

A Routing Security BoF was held and the establishment of a new Routing Security/RPKI SIG reached consensus at the AMM. Elections for Chair and Co-Chair roles will be held at APNIC 49. The draft charter states:

  • The SIG will provide a platform to discuss the operational issues and best practices to secure global Internet routing.
  • The SIG will be the forum for discussion about broader Internet routing topics including RPKI, IRRd, etc which are very much related to network operators.
  • The SIG will act as a forum to develop and clarify deployment of services by APNIC such as RPKI, IRRd, RRDP, etc and collect feedback from network operators about what changes they want and how it is positively/negatively impacting their operations.
  • The SIG will focus on information sharing, outreach, capacity building, and other activities that will advance APNIC’s vision for a global, open, stable, and secure Internet.

Memorandum of Understanding

APNIC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Myanmar Internet Exchange (MMIX). This MoU strengthened the relationship between the two organizations as they agreed to collectively work together, share information, and facilitate the development of the Internet in Myanmar.
