Who can make a nomination?

Anybody may nominate any person as a candidate.

Who can be nominated?

One individual from the Asia Pacific region will be selected to serve on the NRO NC/ASO AC for two years from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2021.

Any individual may be nominated, with the exception of staff members of any Regional Internet Registry (RIR). Self-nominations are permitted.

I am a cyber-security consultant ( technical sales cum solutions architecting professional) with 28 years in total job experience and vast exposure on information systems security solutions designing and architecting services for potential clients. My technical skill are embedding to explore innovative advance threat protection and monitoring solutions (Like; ATP ( advance threat protection), DLP( Data Loss Prevention) and PAM ( Privilege Access Management) designing and architecting under machine learning algorithm components.

I have successfully managed and designed the “Cyber Defense” World Bank funded project at BCC (Bangladesh Computer Council), Dhaka, Bangladesh (one of the first LAB in Bangladesh) as well as many more project in govt. and corporate sector. My role is a technical sale cum solution architecting.
I am very keen to design and analysis the solutions components to prepare the module for functioning based on clients’ needs assessment in the area of cyber security services.

Aftab Siddiqui is associated with Internet Society as Senior Manager, Internet Technology - Asia Pacific. He is based in Sydney, Australia. He has vast experience in the service provider sector.

Aftab is an active member of the internet community in the Asia Pacific region and has been participating in various regional events where he shared his experience and knowledge with the community. He is a regular participant in various events like SANOG, APNIC/APRICOT, MENOG, PacNOG and other national NOGs. He is the Programme Committee member of various national and regional NOGs and Board member of APIA (APRICOT). He has authored/co-authored several policies for APNIC which are now part of the APNIC resource allocation.

Reason for nomination

Aftab Siddiqui has been a member of the APNIC Community for a long time. He first attended the APNIC meeting in 2009, and since then has been a regular participant of APNIC/APRICOT events. He's a rare breed, who despite the full-time obligations has found time to serve as member of regional and national NOG program committees and also participated actively in APNIC Policy Development Process. He is knowledgeable in the regional and global policies currently in place for resource allocation and their impact in the region. 

His long standing experience in Network operations, number resource policy as well as active participation in the APNIC policy process makes him a very suitable candidate for the NRO NC.

Biographical info

Mahmudul Hasan who obtained an M.Sc.(Thesis) in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. He is currently working as a faculty member (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Comilla University, Comilla, Bangladesh. Dr.N.Sudha Bhuvaneswari is currently working as an Associate Professor at Dr.G.R Damodaran College of Science, Coimbatore, where she delivers knowledge to the next generation Internet enthusiasts in the field of Computer Science and Applications. For the past 20 years, she is involved in research activities in the field of Internet Networking. Dr. Sudha has authored books entitled “Integrating SOA and Web Services” and “Combating Cyber Threat through Cyber Security Intelligence”. She has also authored many chapters in premier publications and is an active reviewer for a number of peer reviewed journals.

Dr.N.Sudha Bhuvaneswari is a member of the Internet Society since 2007 and actively participated at APNIC, APRICOT, IGF, APrIGF, and inSIG. She is a member of the APrIGF Multistakeholder Group and served on the Program as well as Fellowship Committees of APNIC, APrIGF, and inSIG. She also actively participates at Women in ICT forums and Cyber Security and contributes towards BPF on Cyber Security at IGF since 2017.

Dr Sudha is intimately familiar with the RIR system, as well as the ICANN organization and eager to contribute her time to community-driven, consensus-based decision-making process.


Nominee Statement

As a doctorate in Computer Science and specialization in Networking with flair to explore new ideas and innovations, the Internet Community was my first entry to get connected to the world.  Out of my interest and to contribute to the community I have attended APNIC, inSIG and APrIGF as fellow.  I am also a part of the MSG with APrIGF and served as Program Committee and Fellowship Community since 2017.  I have involved myself with the Synthesis Document Drafting of APrIGF and contributed towards BPF on Cyber Security and Gender and Diversity.  My major contributions are oriented towards Policy making, Cyber Security and Gender Balance that made to become a part of Women SIG and Cyber Security SIG.  To reach out the mass I have also authored books on Cyber Security and Web Services and involved my scholars and students to participate in the community activities.  As a candidate nominated for NRO-NC, I feel I can contribute my best towards building consensus within the APNIC and Global Internet Community.
