- Biography

I have an MSc in Computer Science and 25 years experience in Internet networking. My initial experience was in the university sector at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and Victoria University of Wellington and then with a number of ISPs and telcos such as AARNet, connect.com.au, Telstra, Telecom NZ and currently CityLink.
I also did work for APNIC some years ago when they upgraded the database software that runs their registry and I've taught tutorials for APNIC and a number of the regional meetings.
In the past I've served on the board of Public Interest Registry which manages the .org domain, the council of InternetNZ and I'm currently on the board of New Zealand's Domain Name Commission which manages the .nz name space.

- Motivation
-
I've had a long running interest in naming and numbering issues on the Internet and I think the next few years are set to be an interesting and challenging time with the imminent exhaustion of the IPv4 address space and the challenges of IPv6 deployment that lie ahead.
I believe that my technical and policy background will allow me to make a valuable contribution to the NRO in a way that tries to balance regional and global needs.
