A Malaysian transparency in governance initiative; an e-book program for print and learning disability, and low literacy Bangladeshis; a Filipino e-health project;  a broadband Internet system for Vanuatu and a free app teaching Bangladeshi people critical skills are this year’s winners in the Information Society Innovation Fund (ISIF Asia) Awards.

The ISIF Asia Program, which provides small grants and awards, was developed to help advance local and regional projects aimed at introducing, improving, and applying Internet technology for the benefit of Asia-Pacific users and communities. The fund,  administered and partially funded by APNIC since 2008, has granted over AUD 1.5 million to 54 initiatives from 21 economies in the Asia Pacific region, showcasing innovation, cooperation, and technical knowledge.

During the 2014 call for nominations, the program received 93 nominations across the four categories from 16 economies in the Asia Pacific. Each winner received a cash prize of AUD 3,000 to support the continuation of the project or the organization conducting the activities and a travel grant for a project representative to participate at the 9th Internet Governance Forum (Istanbul, Turkey, 2-5 September 2014) to showcase their project, make new professional contacts, and participate in discussions about the future of the Internet.
