APNIC staff attended LACNIC 21 in Cancun, Mexico from 4 - 9 May 2014. APNIC attends Regional Internet Registry meetings to stayinformed on policy discussions and operational developments in otherregions, to report to other communities on APNIC activities, to shareresearch and development results, and to meet with RIR staffto discuss operational matters and other projects.
APNIC activities included:
- Pablo Hinojosa presented an update on APNIC activities in Spanish
- APNIC staff attended the LACNIC policy meeting, where two policy proposals were discussed - one regarding the management of returned resources (LAC-2013-04) and the second on the "Creation of an IPv4 reserve exclusively for IPv6 deployment" (LAC-2014-01)
- APNIC staff attended discussions on the impending IPv4 exhaustion in the LACNIC region, where it was announced that the LACNIC IPv4 pool would reach its final /9 in the coming weeks
