APNIC today announced that APNIC's 38th Conference will be held in Brisbane, Australia, from 9-19 September 2014.
APNIC 38 was originally scheduled to be held in Noumea, New Caledonia. However, after consultation with our Noumea host, OPT, the decision was made to move the event to APNIC's default backup location of Brisbane as the result of one-off logistical challenges which made it impossible to hold the event in Noumea in 2014.
"APNIC and OPT are disappointed APNIC 38 cannot be held in Noumea. OPT worked very hard to make the event happen but challenges around venue availability meant we would not have been able to host the Conference in Noumea in 2014," APNIC Director General, Paul Wilson, said.
"While Brisbane is APNIC's default backup location, it is also part of the Oceania sub-region in which the Noumea Conference was originally scheduled. We look forward to welcoming the entire APNIC community to Brisbane for APNIC 38. In particular, we still hope to see strong representation from the Member community in Oceania and will do what we can to help encourage participation from across the Pacific," he said.
