2012 IGF MAG announced

APNIC Director General Paul Wilson has been asked to join the IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG).

APNIC Director General Paul Wilson has been appointed to serve as a member of the 2012 Internet Governance Forum Multistakeholder Advisory Group (IGF MAG). The United Nations recently announced the MAG membership, which includes 56 members from around the world and across all Internet stakeholder groups including government, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, and the technical community.

APNIC supports the IGF as an open, inclusive, and non-decision-making forum to discuss the future direction of Internet growth and governance. The MAG provides advice on the preparations of the upcoming IGF, which will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan in November 2012.

Mr Wilson joins other Regional Internet Registry (RIR) representatives Raúl Echeberría (LACNIC) and Paul Rendek (RIPE NCC) on the MAG to provide insight into Internet governance from an RIR community perspective, including the policy development process, the importance of IPv6 deployment, and other capacity building activities.
