New APNIC policies now active
APNIC implements the final two policy proposals that reached consensus during APNIC 31 in Hong Kong.
Today, 9 August 2011, APNIC implements two policy proposals that reached consensus during APNIC 31 in Hong Kong during February 2011.
The two policy proposals implemented are:
- prop-083 Alternative criteria for subsequent IPv6 allocations
This proposal enables current APNIC account holders with existing IPv6 allocations to receive subsequent IPv6 allocations from APNIC under additional criteria. - prop-095 Inter-RIR IPv4 address transfer proposal
This is a proposal to allow and define a mechanism for the transfer of IPv4 address space between APNIC account holders and organizations in other RIR region(s), providing that the counterpart RIR has a policy that allows transfers of address space with APNIC account holders.
Updated policy documents
The two policy changes required edits to three documents. The comment period for the draft documents incorporating these policies ended on 8 August 2011. The following updated documents are now officially active:
- IPv6 address allocation and assignment policy
- APNIC transfer, merger, acquisition, and takeover policy
- APNIC guidelines for IPv6 allocation and assignment requests
For more information on the history of the policy proposals, see the Policy Proposals page.
