APNIC serves as the new APIPv6TF Secretariat

APIPv6TF was established in Japan in 2003 to encourage IPv6 deployment in the Asia Pacific region and to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange.

APIPv6TF was established in Japan in 2003 to encourage IPv6 deployment in the Asia Pacific region and to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange. Several economies have shared the responsibilities of managing the Secretariat during the past seven years.

We are experiencing a rapidly changing operational environment as IPv4 address exhaustion approaches. Cooperation among members in different economies is the key to managing the challenges that IPv4 exhaustion presents. Mainly, we aim to bring members together who are located across a diverse geographical area for mutual support.

APIPv6TF activities are member-driven and the Secretariat provides an open and transparent environment for member communication.  In order to achieve these goals, the APIPv6TF Secretariat is making efforts to secure various remote participation tools and review the existing website.

We are pleased to announce that Tony Hill (President, ISOC-AU) has volunteered to take the role of the APIPv6TF Chair. Tony has been chair of the Australian IPv6 Summit and the ISOC-AU IPv6 SIG, and he has represented Australia at various international IPv6 events. He has extensive experience as a consultant and he provides high-level advice on large-scale research funding, strategic research management and other challenging collaboration issues.

To encourage wider participation, the APIPv6TF Secretariat employs remote participation at meetings, and has started a new mailing list that is open for public subscriptions. If you are interested in joining these discussions please subscribe.
