Have your say on policy proposals

APNIC calls for members of the Asia Pacific Internet Community to provide input on a number of policy issues that may affect the management of current and future Internet resources.
The Internet is at a critical point of its development. Available IPv4 addresses and 16 bit AS numbers are being depleted and everyone is evaluating how their network could embrace IPv6.
There are currently a number of policy proposals that address these issues being discussed on the APNIC Policy SIG (Special Interest Group) mailing list in the lead up to the APNIC 28 meeting in Beijing 25 - 28 August.
There are only six hours to discuss these proposals onsite at APNIC 28 in Beijing. Therefore, APNIC urges all stakeholders to take the opportunity in these three weeks before APNIC 28 to share their comments and opinions about these proposals and get the discussion well underway before the meeting.
There are seven policy proposals now being discussed:
- Three IPv4 proposals about transfers and reserving space for IPv6 deployment
- Two IPv6 proposals to encourage IPv6 deployment and reduce route fragmentation
- Two AS number proposals to tackle the 16 bit AS number depletion
How can you help?
- Read the policy proposals.
- Take a few moments to send your thoughts to the Policy SIG mailing list. Everyone's opinions matter.
If you're not sure what to say or how to say it, use this as a guide to get you started:
- Do you support or oppose the proposal?
- Does the proposal solve a problem you are experiencing? If so, tell us about your situation.
- Do you see any disadvantages in the proposal?
- Is there anything in the proposal that is not clear?
- What changes would you suggest to make the proposal more effective?
