Today, APNIC will be participating in the Global Mobile Internet & IPv6-Next Generation Internet Summit 2009.
Paul Wilson, APNIC Director General, will deliver a speech titled Expanding the Internet: The IPv4 to IPv6 transition.
In addition to this overview of IPv4 exhaustion and IPv6 deployment issues, Paul will be talking directly about the practical and immediate actions that organizations in the region must take to build their IPv6 readiness.
The community has given us a clear mandate to assist in the transition to IPv6, requesting help across several levels from IPv6 promotion, to training and education, as well as more practical support to infrastructure services, such as Internet exchanges, rootserver deployments, and routing registries. It is clear that APNIC must analyze the operational and business impediments to IPv6 deployment and assist the community to overcome these ahead of the IPv4 free address pool exhaustion.
APNIC will also be conducting IPv6-related training at the event, which will include the following topics:
- Introduction - IPv6 Architecture Overview
- IPv6 advanced subnetting
- IPv6 network address assignment
- IPv6 Operational and Applications
- IPv6 Configuration - Building an IPv6 Tunnel
- Deploying IPv6 - configuring DNS for IPv6
- IPv6 - current facts, figures, and policies
- IPv6 Protocol Test
- IPv6 Ready Test Center
