The ISP industry in India will benefit from a greater degree of regional industry cooperation, following the recent announcement of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI) and APNIC.
Under the MoU, ISPAI and APNIC will cooperate to promote domestic and international Internet standards, infrastructure, and service developments; exchange information; provide assistance to each other in organizing meetings, seminars and conferences; and provide training opportunities for ISPs in India.
"This MoU underlines APNIC's commitment to Internet industry development in India and the Asia Pacific region in general," APNIC's Research and Liaison Officer for South Asia, Kapil Chawla, said.
"Working with ISPAI will further strengthen APNIC's involvement in South Asia, which to date has included many training courses for ISP staff, support for South Asia Network Operators Group (SANOG) meetings, and of course the relationship APNIC enjoys with its many Members across South Asia," Mr Chawla said.
