APNIC is pleased to announce that the next APNIC Meeting will be held at the Novotel Hotel in Brisbane, Australia, from Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 October, 2000.
This second APNIC Meeting for 2000 will be a forum for discussing technology and policy issues affecting the Asia Pacific Internet community and is open to all those with an interest in the Internet in this region.
At the last APNIC Meeting, held in March during APRICOT, over 150 people attended. Many of you who joined us there in Seoul would be aware of how the APNIC Meeting has grown to complement APRICOT as an important source of training and information on technologies, policies, and procedures specific to Internet addressing.
Those opportunities will again be present in October through a comprehensive program of policy discussions, special interest group meetings, training, and hostmaster clinics. The third day will be the APNIC Member Meeting, where issues of policy and APNIC plans will be voted on. At this meeting, elections will also be held to fill positions on the Address Council of the ICANN Address Supporting Organization.
Brisbane is the home city of the APNIC Secretariat. It is a modern, attractive city, situated close to many tourist attractions, such as Australia's famous Gold Coast. Its ready access to cultural and recreational activities, such as golf and water sports, also help to make it an ideal conference venue.
In the coming weeks, registration, accommodation, visa, and travel information will be provided on this website. Details of the conference venue are available at http://www.novotelbrisbane.com.
