Experience and involvement in APNIC activities

Over the last two years, I have been involved in APNIC's Policy Development Process (both as a proposal author and a community member engaging in discussion) which allows me to thoroughly understand the policy process. I was also successfully awarded a sponsorship through the APNIC Foundation to attend the IETF 119 conference in Brisbane as an Australian ambassador to help foster input, feedback and support from the Australian community into internet standards development.

I have attended and been involved in the APNIC 56 and APRICOT 2024 / APNIC 57 conferences in a personal capacity to advocate for and support policy development which strengthens the RIR and the internet community as a whole, and look forward to APNIC 58 in Wellington.

Nominee statement

It is an honour to be nominated for the Policy SIG Co-Chair role within the APNIC community.

I have been involved in the IT industry for just over 10 years, working on everything from small home networks to carrier-grade datacentre systems facilitating internet access and other services for home users. I am currently an IT Manager for a national company as well as serving on the board for Internet Australia, the Australian chapter for the Internet Society.

I believe that I have the skills, knowledge and experience to effectively work with the Policy SIG in the position of Co-Chair thanks to my extensive technical knowledge, understanding of policy development and community engagement. This will allow me to remain objective and impartial in working with the community to follow the Policy Development Process.

In working with the community to foster and promote policy development, one of my goals is to encourage and empower community members to participate in policy development, that affects their own resource usage and membership. I do also commit to ensuring that all community members are heard fairly, and that the PDP is followed.
