Biographical info

Henri Kasyfi Soemartono holds Bachelor degree in 1991 from University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology (Mechanical Engineering) and followed by his master degree in 1992 from Imperial College London (Mechatronics, Robotics and Automation Engineering).

Back to Indonesia in 1992, he started his career as the IT Researcher at Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT). In 1994 Henri founded the first license ISP in Indonesia and served as a Director. Since the year Henri started build the Indonesia Internet Ecosystem.

In the year 2000 Henri founded Internet Data Center (the first neutral data Center in Indonesia) and serve as a President Director until 2004. Since then he served as a Commissioner of the Company. Today IDC is the largest Neutral Data Center in Indonesia.

Motivation for nomination

I am nominating Mr. Henri Kasyfi Soemartono for the APNIC EC. I believe he understands the expertise, background knowledge and skills required for functioning as an effective representative of the APNIC community. I feel he also possess the experience, maturity and knowledge to work towards building consensus within the community in APNIC and truthfully represent in ICANN as per the guidance of APNIC processes, guidelines and Community view.

Over the last two decades Henri actively builds Indonesia Internet Ecosystem. He started in 1994 as a Director of the first Internet Service Provider in Indonesia. In the year 2000 he found a neutral Data Center in Indonesia named IDC and served as a President Director, today IDC is the largest neutral data center in Indonesia. After that he also builds some other company that support to the Indonesia Internet Ecosystem like VSAT Company, NAP Company, Mobile Media TV Company, and the last but not the least today he serves as a chairman of the Indonesia Digital Cooperative Body (digicoop.id). Out of the commercial organization, Henri also actively served IT social organization like klikindonesia.id (Indonesia's Internet Empowering Organization) focus on how to empower of the local apps developer to grow the Indonesia Internet Economy.
