Biographical information

Hemanth Dattatreya is the President of the IPv6 Forum India and co-founded the forum in the summer of 2000. At the Forum he is responsible for the overall management and riving its activities.

He is a technology consultant at Hewlett Packard India Software Operations' System Technology & Software Division located in Bangalore, India.

He spearheads the acceleration of adoption of IPv6 in India with his evangelism of the technology.

Hemanth has contributed several articles and technical papers on IPv6 and is keen to see it deployed soon in India. He travels extensively and is a sought after speaker at conferences worldwide.

Hemanth is a member of the Technical Directorate, IPv6 Forum and the Chair of the IPv6 activity group in the IMTC forum. He is also a member of the IEEE and the Bangalore Linux Users Group that actively participates in trade shows in India.

His current areas of interest include IPv6 Deployment, VoIP applications, QoS mechanisms and Billing systems.

Motivation for nomination

Address policies are the key to the deployment of the Internet in the Asia-pac region. Coming late into the Internet era, the region has had the benefit of the experience of US and Europe in addressing and allocation. However, to sustain the efforts made in v4 allocations and policies thus far and beyond and make similar efforts in v6, it is critical that such activities be sustained.

Hemanth has had an active, albeit short exposure, to this world. I believe that with the responsibilities he holds in his organisation as well as the other forums like the IPv6 Forum, the IMTC, IPDR.org and so on, he will be able to provide the right inputs to the ASO AC and take on the role.
